What’s not to love about a soft, fluffy, crumbly scone?! This cheese and chive version is incredible! Made using plant based ingredients and our NOM Creamy Cashew milk, these scones are a wonderful alternative to traditional recipes. Have you tried savoury scones? We recommend it, they are delicious!
Preheat the oven to 180C fan forced and line a baking tray with reusable baking sheet or parchment paper.
In a medium bowl sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Add the cold butter and gently crumble between fingertips to create a breadcrumb like texture. Mix through the chopped chives and 100g of the grated cheese.
Pour the milk into the flour mixture and bring together with your hands to form a rough, shaggy dough. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and roll out using a rolling pin to about 2-3cm thick.
Using a round cookie cutter, cut out 8 scones. Transfer to the baking tray and sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese. Place into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.
Enjoy with some vegan cream cheese and a cup of tea for the perfect afternoon snack.
