Easy ways to be more eco-conscious this year

2022 is here! And with it comes that time of year where we make new goals and set new resolutions. Here at PureHarvest HQ, we’re like you, we can be guilty of starting resolutions but not always seeing them through. However, this year, we’re looking to be more accountable, starting with simple ways to be more eco-conscious and eco-friendly on a day-to-day basis.

So, here are five easy to commit to eco-friendly resolutions that will have you still doing them well past February.

1. Practice ‘Meatless Mondays’

Making it at least one day a week, makes it easier to adhere to. Going meatless one day a week is not only great for the environment, but it is also good for your overall health, ensuring you’re eating more vegetables. We have some great meatless recipes to inspire your ‘Meatless Monday’ on our website. Our go-to would be the Vegan Pad Thai.

2. Drive less

Walking is not only great for your general wellbeing and fitness, but by driving less you’ll save money on petrol as well as reduce your carbon footprint. If possible, leave the car at home and walk to the station or walk the kids to school. It’s also an easy way to get your daily steps up.

3. Buy less ‘stuff’

Most of us are guilty of spending a bit too much at the end of the year. So, it’s a good idea to start a new year with a conscious mindset to buy less. The next time you’re out shopping, take a moment to really think about the purchase and whether it is a ‘want’ or ‘need.’

4. Spend more time in nature

It sounds simple because it is. Getting outdoors and embracing Australia’s natural environment does wonders for your stress and anxiety levels. It’s a great way to reset and provide a clear mindset.

5. Choose to reuse

Whether it be reusable coffee cups, utensils or bags, it’s time to make the effort to choose to reuse and actively reduce your plastic waste. If you haven’t tried beeswax wraps, we’d suggest giving them try.
