Frosty mornings and cold, dark nights – Winter has arrived. It can be easy to let things slide in winter. Your morning run might turn into a sleep in, you might overindulge in ‘comfort food’ or you might keep your heater running at all hours of the day. Health and sustainability tend to take back seat to comfort when the cold sets in, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

LAST RESORT HEATING
Winter often means overuse of your home’s heating (and who could blame you?). It’s for this reason we see electricity consumption and power bills skyrocket during the colder months.
Here’s the tip: Use your heating as a last resort! We’re not saying do away with it completely, just use it consciously. Instead of making it your first option, make it your last. Put on a few extra layers and snuggle up on the couch with a soft blanket and a Vegan hot chocolate. Your power bill, and the planet, will thank you.
HEALTHIER CHOICES – MOST OF THE TIME
Our diets always have a habit of taking a hit during winter. We’re seeking comfort, and that often comes at the expense of healthy, nutrient rich food.
Make things a little healthier this winter and keep yourself on track with a dedicated meal plan (you can even meal prep if you’ve got the time). If you’ve got everything planned out and ready to go for the week ahead, it’s far less likely that you’ll find yourself wandering onto a food delivery app.
If you do find yourself with an urge to stray from your diet, don’t panic, just make a slightly healthier choice. It’s not about being perfect, just do the best you can.
